in Judaism, life is valued above almost all else; we believe that all people are descended from a single person.

thus taking a single life is like destroying an entire world.

in our civilization, children are the truest definition of innocence. their very nature exempts them from responsibility. WE are responsible for our children. and in the wake of the sandy hook massacre, it feels like the whole world has been destroyed.
